CIRCLE CDA Training Program
In the Fall of 2015, CLI launched a pilot program dedicated to helping early childhood teachers in Texas obtain the training hours needed to apply for the Child Development Associate (CDA) CredentialTM for Center-Based Programs. Known as CIRCLE CDA Training, this program allows CLI to provide professional development opportunities to early childhood teachers. Beginning in the Fall of 2016, the CIRCLE CDA Training program will be available to all CLI Engage users.
The Child Development Associate (CDA) CredentialTM is based on a core set of competency standards, which guide early care professionals as they work toward becoming qualified teachers of young children. To qualify, early childhood teachers must have a strong knowledge base (education and professional development) and demonstrated practice (experience in the classroom).
The CIRCLE CDA Training program builds upon CLI’s established and well-respected eCIRCLE online professional development courses, currently used in Texas School Ready and available through CLI Engage. To complement the 80 hours of eCIRCLE coursework, CLI has developed an additional 40 hours of online modules to ensure that all of the content areas for the CDATM are covered, providing 100 percent of the training hours needed for teachers to qualify for the CDATM. CLI has also developed materials to assist teachers in writing their CDATM competency statements, a critical component of a CDATM.
The CIRCLE CDA Training program is designed for preschool teachers, but will expand to infant/toddler teachers in the near future. All CIRCLE CDA Training courses and materials will be hosted on CLI Engage and be available for free to all teachers enrolled on the platform in the fall of 2016.
The Child Development Associate (CDA) CredentialTM is the most widely recognized credential in early childhood education and is a key stepping stone on the path of career advancement in the early childhood field.
