AMARILLO - The Children's Learning Institute came to Amarillo today to tell local kindergarten teachers about a new, free resource that will soon be available to them.
The Texas Kindergarten Entry Assessment will help educators know how ready students are before they start school.
"The Texas Kindergarten Entry Assessment is a tool that helps teachers understand where kids are right when they come into the classroom which is really helpful at the beginning of the year because they are really able to tailor the instruction and make sure they meet the needs of each child in the class," said Jennifer Lindley with the Children's Learning Institute.
The organization already has a pre-k program in place to help teachers of younger children.
Lindley says they have had a lot of positive feedback, especially since the assessments are free and easy to access.
"It is available for free for all school districts across the state and it is on our online platform that is already available to all of the districts, where they can also access our Pre-K resources called CLI Engage," said Lindley.
With Region 16 being so spread out and some school districts not having easy access to certain resources, Lindley says this will benefit everyone here on the High Plains.
"So many of the districts have a hard time finding great resources and these are available to anyone, not just if you live in a really urban area and the great part about having an online tool is that anybody can access it anywhere with the internet," added Lindley.
The program will be available for teachers to use starting in the Fall of 2017.
