We hope you were able to join us for our Fall Lunch and Learn!

Thank you to everyone who joined us for our Fall Lunch and Learn "Bridging Research and Practice in Reading Instruction for PreK-Grade 12." Every year, the Children's Learning Institute hosts three Lunch & Learn events to increase awareness of CLI, its research, and its services within the Houston community and to reach out to a wider range of community members who work with or are interested in child development issues. Each event features faculty members or project directors who discuss our work at CLI, as well as give practical guidance for quality interactions between adults and children. Past topics have include developmental issues and disabilities, learning disorders, child stress and anxiety, healthy early learning environments, and CLI’s statewide interventions!

This year's Fall Lunch and Learn explored the dynamic relationship between research and educators' day-to-day practices and how the two can inform one another. Specific projects were discussed as examples of how researchers and educators can work together and learn from each other, resulting in better reading outcomes for students. Participants also heard about some of the cutting-edge research taking place at CLI to study effective reading instruction for students in preK through grade 12. We know that not everyone can come to Houston for this presentation, so we wanted to bring the presentation to you!
