Learning experiences of the preschool years provide a foundation that guide children academically, socially, and emotionally. Children’s learning and intellectual growth are affected by the specific experiences they have in a preschool classroom. These experiences can influence the rest of a child's life. The 2008 Texas Pre-Kindergarten (Pre-K) Guidelines were developed to help educators provide all preschool children with the proper foundations for school success.

This web-based interactive is a professional development tool to orient and provide educators an introduction to the 2008 Texas Pre-Kindergarten Guidelines. The section From the Guidelines includes video examples of child behaviors in five domains (social and emotional development, language and communication, emergent literacy: reading and writing, and math) and provides instructional strategies teachers can use to support students. The section Classroom Examples of Integrated Instruction includes video examples of classroom interactions where several outcomes from the guidelines are combined.
