CLI's Fall Lunch and Learn 

CLI's Fall Lunch and Learn explored social and emotional learning in infants and toddlers. We dove into research on early social and emotional development in young children, learned about the FREE infant and toddler resources on CLI Engage, and created make and take classroom activities participants could use in the future!

8th Annual Texas School Ready Early Childhood Summer Institute
The TSR Institute is an exceptional professional development opportunity provided free of charge to Texas early childhood educators. Known for its unique combination of presentations by both national research experts and experienced, hands-on trainers and coaches, the TSR Institute provides attendees with high-quality trainings to help them provide the best possible learning experiences for children around the state.

2nd Bilingual Research Conference
The 2018 Bilingualism and Academic Achievement Research Conference, sponsored by the National Science Foundation will bring together national and international academic scholars to share and discuss the importance of bilingualism and academic achievement. The conference will primarily emphasize research in bilingualism across the life-span, with emphasis on school-aged children. It will also be an opportunity for scholars around the globe to discuss research that bears on bilingualism in relation to academic achievement in language, literacy, STEM, and other subject-area domains. The conference will also consist of keynote addresses, solicited paper presentations, and poster presentations that will allow for researchers to present their own projects and contribute to discussions sparked by others.

CLI's Spring Lunch and Learn 

In recognition of Autism Awareness Month, the Children's Learning Institute's Spring Lunch and Learn event will focus on the latest research regarding autism, and practical tips, red flags and FAQs for parents and teachers. Participants will also learn about the two clinics at the Children's Learning Institute that offer individualized, research-based clinical services to children with suspected or diagnosed developmental delays.

CLI's Winter Lunch and Learn

CLI's Winter Lunch and Learn discussed the benefits of using individualized, one-on-one coaching to improve high quality teaching practices and better child outcomes. Attendees learned about recent research results that demonstrates the effectiveness of coaching, and how to access FREE resources on CLI Engage that you can use to support teachers in your program.

 

CLI's Fall Lunch and Learn 
CLI's Fall Lunch and Learn will explore brain development from infancy through kindergarten. We will discuss research-based responsive parenting techniques, how children develop reading skills, and the effects of damage to the brain from injury.

CLI's Spring Lunch and Learn - Developing Early Skills in Infants and Toddlers
CLI's Spring Lunch and Learn will discuss the importance of responsive caregiving when working with infants and toddlers, and how teachers can use these meaningful interactions to build on language and literacy skills. Participants will also learn about some of the Children's Learning Institute's free, publically available online resources specifically designed for infants and toddlers.

CLI's Winter Lunch and Learn - Critical Components of Reading and Math Instruction
CLI's Winter Lunch and Learn will discuss the critical components of effective instruction in reading and math and how personalized intervention programs can help develop skills in these foundational areas. The presentation will also dive into how brain development, executive function, and attention skills influence comprehension of these essential learning domains. Participants will also learn about some of the Children's Learning Institute's intervention programs that aim to improve elementary children's reading and math skills, which will continue to impact their education experience through high school and beyond.

TX-KEA Webinar: Explore Our State’s Free Kindergarten Entry Screener, Coming Fall 2017
Housed on CLI Engage, TX-KEA is a comprehensive and time-efficient screener developed by child development and assessment experts at TEA and the Children’s Learning Institute. This webinar described TX-KEA’s background, showcased assessment items, and dove into training and outreach plans! Districts can access the screener and its reporting features at no cost.

CLI's Fall Lunch and Learn - Bridging Research and Practice in Reading Instruction for PreK-Grade 12 
CLI's Fall Lunch and Learn explored the dynamic relationship between research and educators' day-to-day practices and how the two can inform one another. Specific projects were discussed as examples of how researchers and educators can work together and learn from each other, resulting in better reading outcomes for students. Participants heard about some of the cutting-edge research taking place at CLI to study effective reading instruction for students in preK through grade 12.

For our Spring Lunch and Learn "Bridging the Gap for Bilingual Learners", we dove into common myths and misconceptions about bilingualism and present some research-tested solutions to address this important issue.

This event focused on the purposes of assessment, common misuses of assessment, and how CLI is involved in this hot-topic issue.

Webinar - Managing Mild Autism in Early Childhood Inclusive Classrooms: Top Teaching Strategies Children with Mild ASD
In inclusive classroom environments, teachers work doggedly to facilitate learning that meets every child’s needs, regardless of their abilities. However, teachers can be challenged when it comes to engaging children who have been diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). Without specialized training and/or individual aides, teachers often are often unable to find the right strategies to meet the needs of children with ASD. This actionable webinar offered participants strategies they can use to engage and facilitate learning for children with ASD through the lens of CLI expert, Dr. Michael Assel, and the lens of an experienced practitioner Libby Hall.

This event focused on the importance of infant and toddler development and discussed practical strategies that parents and teachers can use to foster language and cognitive skills. We also gave a preview of CLI's new infant and toddler online courses and activities.
