Mary R. Prasad, Ph.D.Associate Professor of Pediatrics
Dr. Mary Prasad is a Pediatric Neuropsychologist with the Dan L Duncan Children’s Neurodevelopmental Clinic at the Children’s Learning Institute as well as an Associate Professor of Pediatrics at the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston. She received her master’s and doctorate degrees in Clinical Neuropsychology from the University of Houston. She completed her pre-doctoral internship at the Long Island Jewish Medical Center in New York and her post-doctoral fellowship at the University of Texas Health Science Center in Houston. Dr. Prasad conducts evaluations of children with developmental differences, including Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder and learning disabilities. She also evaluates children with neurological disorders such as traumatic brain injuries, seizure disorders, and brain tumors.
Dr. Prasad also conducts research in the area of pediatric traumatic brain injury. She was principal investigator on a Department of Education grant that evaluates the role of the caregiver and home environment on cognitive and motor skills following traumatic brain injury in infants and toddlers. She is currently a co-investigator on a National Institutes of Health-funded grant on the impact of stress on emotional and cognitive outcomes from significant injuries in children.
