TEEM Beat

From the Director of State Initiatives

March should prove to be an exciting time for teachers and mentors working in the TSR! Project.  All progress monitoring should be completed with your vendor and teachers should have ready access to the progress monitoring reports provided.  These various reports will help focus instructional attention on targeted small group instruction as well as provide a comprehensive look at the successes and needs of the entire class. In addition, you are provided individual child summary sheets appropriate for you to use in communicating with parents.  We hope that our children’s progress will reflect all the efforts we have all made during the year. Continue reading.

PERSPECTIVES FROM PROJECT MANAGEMENT

Bridging the Communication Gap: Supporting TSR! Partnerships Through Communication

By Mary Ellen Douglas, Technical Assistance Specialist

As the work of the Children’s Learning Institute expands to include more and more communities in Texas, the challenge of creating and maintaining strong community-based partnerships also increases.  Integrated approaches to building school readiness skills include a variety of partnership situations.  In every partnership, the goal of collaboration is to improve school readiness of children, and make the best possible use of limited community resources.  Continue reading.

Buzz Worthy

Every now and then we hear from a parent who has feedback about our programs. Dr. Isa Fragente has children at the Friendswood Christian School. She wrote the letter below to express her experience with one of our TSR! programs. With her permission, we are sharing her letter with all of you.

As a FCS mother of 3, I have been so pleased with our experience in MDO, PreK3, and PreK4.  The teachers are skilled, nurturing, and committed to children’s learning.  I found the right environment that focused not only one aspect of my children’s growth, but a program that understood the importance of academic, language, social, and emotional development.  I am delighted about the relationship that FCS has developed with a research program aimed at improving children’s language and early literacy.  I obtained my Ph.D. in Psychology and worked with the original research project that investigated environmental factors promoting early cognitive growth, which is the foundation for this current preschool education program that is being implemented at FCS.  I am so grateful that our school has this wonderful opportunity to work with a nationally recognized expert in early childhood education so that we can better prepare our children for success.  With twins on the way, I am thrilled to be able to continue to reap the benefits that the FCS preschool program has to offer.
